The Meeting Place

Today was our first full afternoon to volunteer at the coffee shop! But the first part of the morning we sat in Plaza del Armas to listen to more festivities going on. We also wanted to do a little reading with the music of the bands in the background. Talk about a cultural quiet time! It was great. About 11:30 we headed to The Meeting Place to grab some lunch before our shift started. Amazing burgers and desserts were all apart of the ticket order. What can we say, we love our American cheeseburgers!

Volunteering was great and we have met some of the other volunteers, which has been a treat! Scott continued to tell us all about the background of his missions in Peru and it was a blessing and encouragement to hear his story. If you want to check out more of what the coffee shop is doing, the link to the website is below.

Tonight we are figuring out our next leg of the trip and scheduling the next set of buses and hostels. This has been a new experience for us all, but waiting and not figuring everything out from the beginning has truly been fun! We don't have to keep ourselves to a strict time schedule and we can explore as we see fit. I will say though, it's quite an interesting experience and we've familiarized ourselves with many a bus company and hostels. Our 50 hour trek to Santiago, Chile is quickly approaching. Granted, we aren't making that in one trip but the longest part of that trip is a 30 hour bus ride. Hello book and iPod. We're about to get real acquainted with quiet time and bus stops. But that's all in the fun!

Sara is our master trip planner and is doing a fabulous job of getting us situated. More volunteering and packing before heading out to Machu Picchu at 6:30 Thursday morning!
