We met Christy's parents For the first and were so thankful for our time with them! They shared a little bit about their time in Ecuador and their family. We ate a traditional meal with chicken, beans, and rice before heading to the university for our event with the students. We even met the family turtles! Thank you Karen and Shayler for feeding us and opening up your home to a few goofy college kids. The food was delicious!!
After lunch, Karen drove us to the university she teaches English at. She had been preparing her students to give us a presentation on food, culture, holidays, and places to visit in Guayaquil. Everyone was so friendly and all of the students welcomed us without hesitation. They had the opportunity to practice their English and we had the chance to talk to them in Spanish. What an amazing opportunity we had! We never would have had the chance to see what university is like here with Karen and the wonderful staff and students at UCG. They may have laughed at us a bit, mainly me, for mispronouncing a few words in Spanish, but it was a learning experience! Getting out of your comfort zone isn't always easy, but the challenge was worth it! We made some great friends and memories at the university and are so thankful for all of the presentations. Me gusta tus presentaciones muy muchos! (it's very possible that is wrong. my apologies).
We are very appreciative of what you taught us at UCG! Thank you and good luck with your studies.
